Thank you & Goodbye

After almost 6 years of dedicated research and exciting discoveries, we are announcing that our Lab will officially be closing its doors on February 13th, 2026. This decision comes as our Principal Investigator, Dr. Natalia Muñoz Wolf, and our team members prepare to transition to new professional challenges and research horizons abroad. It has been an incredible journey, during which passion, innovation & science met incredibly talented people who took this R&D program beyond its own technical goals and turned it into a legacy of collaboration and shared purpose to improve human health.  While it is bittersweet to close this chapter, we are incredibly excited about the new opportunities ahead of us and the chance to continue our mission of fast-tracking the R&D journey from bench to bedside in new environments.

Our Sincerest Gratitude

This journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our community. We wish to extend our deepest thanks to:

  • Our Patients and Participants: Your courage and willingness to contribute to science are the reasons we do this work. You are the heart of every discovery we made.

  • Our Collaborators: Thank you for the intellectual partnership & commitment from day 1. Building a lab from the ground-up is only possible when surrounded by a supportive scientific community and great colleagues. To all the clinical collaborators, huge thanks for making the clinical pipeline a reality. Our breakthroughs were truly a team effort and could not have been possible without you all.

  • Our Funders and Partners: We are grateful for your trust and investment in our vision. Your support provided the foundation for our scientific vision and discoveries.

  • Trinity College Dublin & Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute: It has been an honour and humbling experience to be a part of the most vibrant research community in Ireland. Thank you for providing a home for our curiosity and growth over the years.

Moving Forward

While our physical lab is closing, the impact of our work continues. We are committed to a smooth transition:

  • Data & Inquiries: For any administrative or data-related inquiries, please contact munozwon@tcd.ie by June 2026. All enquiries about the clinical study after this date should be directed to Prof. Cloonan.

  • Future Updates: You can follow the future endeavors of our team members right here or on LinkedIn.

Thank you for being part of our story.
We look forward to crossing paths again in the global scientific community.

With gratitude,

Research Programme

The Translational Respiratory Immunology Lab (TRIL) aims to design novel treatments for chronic and acute respiratory conditions. By harnessing the unique properties of gut microbial-derived compounds and their metabolites we aim to modulate the lungs' immune system and improve our protection against infections and inflammatory diseases of the airways. Our research programme is focused on a coherent and integrative approach at the intersection of basic and clinical research to enable innovative, simple and cost-effective therapies for respiratory care.
